Dr. William Stephen Maiorano is a board-certified optometrist with more than three decades of experience providing comprehensive, full-scope primary eye care. Based in Central Florida since 1991, Dr. Maiorano is known for his expertise in ocular disease management, primary care optometry, and his longstanding commitment to patient-centered care.
Dr. Maiorano earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Massachusetts College of Optometry and completed a Primary Care Residency at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in affiliation with Hahnemann University Medical School. His advanced clinical training emphasized anterior segment disease, glaucoma management, ocular infections and inflammations, cataract pre- and post-operative care, and complex diagnostic procedures including ultrasonography, laser interferometry, and advanced imaging technologies.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Maiorano has held numerous leadership roles in both military and civilian settings. He served as Chief of Optometry at multiple United States Naval Hospitals, including assignments in Guam, Maryland, and Florida, and later as Chief of the Department of Optometry at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Key West. His military service included responsibilities in occupational vision, ophthalmic surgical assistance, and comprehensive primary eye care for service members and their families.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Maiorano has remained deeply involved in education and professional development. During his residency, he helped train student doctors in emergency and primary care settings. He has delivered clinical lectures and grand rounds presentations on topics including ocular sarcoidosis, retinal breaks, stroke-related ocular signs, and corneal disease.
Dr. Maiorano is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association and the Central Florida Optometric Association. He is also dedicated to community service, volunteering his expertise with organizations such as the Health Care Coalition for the Homeless, VOSH Central Florida, Healing The Children, and serving as a mission coordinator for medical outreach trips to the Dominican Republic.
