Carl Sylvester, M.D.

Carl L. Sylvester M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with offices in both North and South Oklahoma City. Specializing in cataract surgery and laser vision correction, he is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and one of only a few fellowship-trained Refractive Surgeons in the state. He has performed LASIK, PRK, ICL, CLE, and cataract surgery with specialty IOL upgrades for 20 years.

As a National Merit Scholar, Dr Sylvester earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he graduated with Honors. He then completed his internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, his residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the internationally renowned Sinskey Eye Institute in Santa Monica, California. Upon completion of his fellowship, he served as the Assistant Director of the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Department at the Sinskey Eye Institute until he returned to his home state of Oklahoma in 2003.

Dr. Sylvester is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Oklahoma State Medical Association. He also served as Medical Director and Head Refractive Surgeon at LasikPlus in Oklahoma City for 10 years. In 2021, Sylvester Eye Care opened our own surgery center at the North Meridian office to further provide superior, yet affordable refractive and cataract surgeries.

Dr. Sylvester provides general ophthalmology services including dilated eye exams and medical management of eye diseases including Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, vision loss, and eye infections. His Fellowship training provided additional expertise in diseases of the cornea including Keratoconus, Dystrophy's such as Salzmann's and Fuch's, and treatment of corneal infections and corneal scarring. Dr Sylvester is a skilled surgeon with expertise in cataract surgery and laser vision correction as well as eyelid and glaucoma procedures. He utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including 100% bladeless LASIK and advanced cataract surgery using the latest intra-ocular lens implants for the correction of both astigmatism and near vision, giving his patients their best chance at visual freedom. With his advanced training and years of experience, Dr. Sylvester is committed to patient success and satisfaction.
